Romance, Secrets & Living History
Let me take you on a walk through "my" Girona — a city I’ve loved and explored for more than 30 years. Here, every stone has a story, every alley a secret. Girona is not just beautiful — it’s
alive with legends, mystery, and timeless charm.
On this tour, I’ll guide you through places most visitors never see. With me, you’ll discover hidden corners, sacred spaces, and stories that only a local knows — places where the soul of
Catalonia still lingers in silence.
We’ll wander romantic cobbled streets once walked by Roman legions, Jewish mystics, and Napoleonic soldiers. I’ll share with you legends that made me fall in love with this city — some funny,
some tragic, all unforgettable.
Together, we’ll visit historical sites that are usually closed to the public — but open to those who come with me.
In the old Monastery of Sant Pere, I’ll show you a mysterious two-tailed mermaid. In the Arab Baths, you’ll step into the world of medieval wellness. And in a quiet hidden spot, we’ll discover
something truly unique — a sitting cemetery, unlike any other.
We’ll also stop at the church that locals hold closest to their hearts — the one protected, according to legend, by magical flies. There, ancient sarcophagi still rest, keeping the memory of
Girona’s earliest martyrs.
And finally, we’ll reach the crown jewel: Girona’s Cathedral, where I’ll reveal:
* A stained-glass window — the oldest in Catalonia — lost for centuries and found by chance
* A one-of-a-kind tapestry from the 11th century, the “Creation of the World”, filled with ancient symbols and legends
* The stone cloister, where every column tells a biblical tale — carved by Girona’s own stonemasons nearly 800 years ago
If you’re drawn to mysticism, we can dive into the Jewish Quarter, where you’ll feel the quiet soul of a community that once thrived here. Mezuzah marks still remain on doorways, and the spirit
of the first Iberian Kabbalah school is alive in the stones.
Did you know that the charter of the Spanish Inquisition was written here in Girona? The man behind it was born of a converted Jewish family, and the building where he once lived now belongs to
the local university.
Join me — and let Girona reveal her soul to you.
